Although earthbound to a wheelchair, Hugh Fletcher reached many goals not attained by most people. An avid sailor, scuba diver and sportsman, in the company of friends and family he explored corners of the globe both far and near. Though carried on the shoulders of giants, he would have stood tall in our midst nonetheless. He was a great friend to many and an inspiration to all. Hugh died of Muscular Dystrophy on May 16, 2002.
Endowed by the friends of outstanding diver and volunteer Hugh Fletcher who triumphed over Muscular Dystrophy, made great strides in diving and was a role model for disabled divers.
