Awarded to: Charlene Glahn

for her devotion and energy to promoting early detection of breast cancer
through a unique underwater event that is now being developed for international
expansion. In 2002, Glahn rallied a group of loyal friends to help organize
the “BCD Dive to Survive” fundraiser that involved the diving
community, numerous sponsors and local volunteers in an underwater treasure
hunt and silent auction in Guppy Gulch Quarry (near Delta, PA). The one-day
event raised more than $10,000 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Glahn’s goal is to teach other breast cancer survivors to “dive
in and enjoy life”. |
