Ingrid N. Visser is the founder of the Orca Research Trust. She is a world-renowned cetologist and the only scientist dedicated to studying the unique New Zealand orca populations. Spending over 30 years researching the species, she specialises in underwater observations of these apex predators in their natural habitat. Her pioneering research focuses on foraging behaviour. She was the first person to document orca hunting for stingrays and karate-chopping sharks. She combines her rigorous field research with global advocacy, working tirelessly to protect wild orca to improve their conservation status as well as to improve welfare for captive cetaceans. She has appeared in numerous documentaries for National Geographic, BBC, Animal Planet and others. She has written 40+ scientific publications and books.
