Ange Amon, Founder and Director of Lissenung Island Turtle Conservation (LITC) in Papua New Guinea, works with local communities to preserve critically endangered Hawksbill seaturtles. The team protects eggs from poachers by relocating them to Lissenung Island, where they are incubated in a safe environment. Once hatched, the hatchlings are released into the ocean.  LITC also runs a small turtle care center where injured or underdeveloped hatchlings as well as injured juvenile or adult sea turtles are looked after before being released. LITC plans to extend their educational program about sea turtles and the marine environment in schools, including regular beach clean-ups.
