Christina is a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute. She received a Master’s in marine conservation from the University of Miami and a B.S. in environmental science from the University of Connecticut. Her current research integrates traditional sampling with advanced molecular techniques to investigate species interactions and resource-use patterns, for example, pairing scuba visual surveys with environmental DNA (eDNA) to explore novel approaches for monitoring queen conch, an iconic yet threatened fishery species. Driven by a fond connection to the sea, Christina’s research outcomes are aimed to improve the sustainability of our marine ecosystems.
