Christine is a researcher with the University of Technology Sydney and the Coral Nurture Program on the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. Her fascination with reef ecosystems began in childhood, but witnessing their decline inspired her to pursue a career in research focused on tangible protection and advocacy for coral reefs. As the lead scientist of a local research–tourism partnership, diving is central to her work, enabling hands-on restoration and a close connection with the reef systems she studies. Beyond her profession, diving also reflects Christine’s personal commitment to reef conservation and to understanding and safeguarding the reef’s future. The support of the Advanced Dive Training Grant will allow her to obtain her occupational diving certification, strengthening her capacity to lead large-scale underwater projects and mentor other women passionate about marine science and diving.
