Deva is a second-year Ph.D. student at the University of California - Davis, studying marine microbial ecology. She is specifically interested in how microbes facilitate coral persistence in the face of climate change. She earned her undergraduate degree at Bowdoin College. Supported by the Morrison scholarship and WDHOF, Deva plans to study whether coral-associated damselfish impact the microbiome and thermal tolerance of corals in Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
