Elizabeth has worked as a laboratory technician for research groups at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute since 2014, and is currently employed at Smithsonian Institution’s Marine Station at Fort Pierce, Florida. One of the most enjoyable parts of her work is exploring the marine habitat of the organisms she researches and collecting wild specimens for study. Elizabeth has been blessed to have worked with superb dive safety officers throughout her career, so she has always felt confident diving despite the inherent dangers of scuba. By advancing her own diving emergency medical education, she aims to extend that same feeling of safety to her fellow divers, and to increase her competency in diving should any complications arise in the field. “Preparation eradicates cowardice, which we define as the failure to act in the midst of fear.” — Veronica Roth
