Hrefna Sylvia was born and raised in Iceland, she studied to become a doctor of chiropractic at Life University, GA, and has established her own small practice. She took her OPW during winter in Alaska where she was an au pair. That is where Hrefna fell in love with scuba diving. Education and work delayed her participation in diving for almost 20 years but that passion was always there. In 2023, she became a divemaster and technical diver. She currently dives year round. Her long-term plan is to become an instructor to empower women to be divers and be comfortable diving in the cold. Hrefna will teach cold-water diving in dry suits and show divers how to dive in dry suits while they build confidence and skills. Cold-water diving comes with its challenges, but the rewards of safe, cold-water diving last a lifetime and are magical.
