Isabel is a Ph.D. student in Geography at UCLA. Her dissertation research explores the connectivity and politics of shared fisheries in the Gulf of Mexico. With a background in environmental policy, she first pursued diving to learn more about marine ecosystems through a scientific lens. As an AAUS Scientific Diver, she now volunteers with The Bay Foundation in support of their kelp restoration work. Isabel aims to integrate underwater photography in her research to investigate spearfishing practices. She aspires to pursue a career in interdisciplinary fisheries research with actionable impacts on marine conservation.
