Jess is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Big Fish Lab at Oregon State University. Her dissertation focuses on the movement, foraging ecology, and conservation of an apex predator, the Broadnose sevengill shark, along the U.S. west coast. Studying these sharks provides key insights into top-down predator roles and broader ecosystem dynamics in the Pacific Northwest. Jess is passionate about ocean ecosystems and aims to apply her skills to advance shark research and conservation worldwide. She is a PADI Divemaster and supports instruction for OSU’s AAUS Scientific Diving program.
