Lauren is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Burkepile Lab at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her dissertation explores how shifts in macroalgal abundance and stability shape coral reef ecosystems and the coastal communities that depend on them. She is driven to produce research that directly informs conservation and management. She is also a PADI Divemaster and an AAUS scientific diver.
