Mikayla is a first-year Master’s student at North Carolina State University studying how bioacoustics can be used as a tool to assess ocean reef health, effects of climate change, and biodiversity. After earning her B.S in Biology from Scripps College in Claremont, California, Mikayla obtained her Divemaster certification and spent two years working abroad at Forfar Field Station on Andros in the Bahamas and the School for Field Studies on South Caicos. Mikayla’s passion for the ocean was fostered through her parents’ enthusiasm for diving. She loved her time abroad gaining Divemaster experience and is excited to obtain her Scientific Diver Certification to further expand her expertise in diving and research.
