Mineris Angélica Figueroa Colón is a biologist with a strong focus on ocean advocacy. As a graduate student at the University of Puerto Rico–Río Piedras, she combines scientific diving and underwater photography to highlight the beauty and ecological importance of Caribbean seagrass ecosystems. Through the WDHOF award, she aims to strengthen her underwater photography skills to document the rarely seen flowers of Puerto Rico’s seagrasses, using visual storytelling to connect science with the public and inspire ocean stewardship through education, outreach, and citizen science.
