Miranda is a second-year Master of Biology student at Florida Atlantic University, where she investigates the burrowing behavior of the Atlantic longarm octopus (Macrotritopusdefilippi). Her research focuses on the behavior of burrow construction, sediment preferences, and how burrows influence environmental parameters. This spring, she will use scientific scuba diving to collect sediment cores and behavioral videos for analyses. The Women Divers Hall of Fame award will support the field components of this work and advance her career in animal behavior and marine conservation. Miranda aims to empower young women to pursue careers in marine science and scientific diving.
