Shannon is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Earth Science department at The Ohio State University studying potential technological intervention strategies to increase coral resilience to climate change. Although she grew up in Florida near the coast, she did not discover her passion for scuba diving until she started studying coral reefs. Shannon has always enjoyed being in the water, either competitively swimming, surfing, or snorkeling. She will use this grant to increase her dive safety skills to be a better future research advisor.
