Silpa is pursuing a Ph.D. at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, India. Her research focuses on understanding responses of seagrasses to predicted climate change. She earned her PADI Open Water Diving certification in the Lakshadweep archipelago, India, which opened her eyes to the world beyond the blue. That first dive ignited a passion, making the ocean an inseparable part of her life. The WDHOF grant will help her fulfil her passion for becoming a dive instructor and encouraging girls to take up diving in India.
