Graduate Marine Conservation Scholarship, Sponsored by WDHOF Member Meg Donat

Ashlynn White

Ashlynn’s passion for the ocean began at a young age, and she got dive certified when she was 11. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology at the University of Glasgow, Ashlynn decided to further her studies at the same institution and is currently pursuing a Master of Research in Ecology. With a love for coral reef ecosystems, Ashlynn embarked on a university expedition to Thailand during her undergraduate program to lead a research project on the coral-eating snails, Drupella. Her fascination with these creatures deepened, motivating her to continue studying them for her Master’s thesis research. Her research will center on the metabolic response of Drupella to increasing temperatures, aiming to enhance understanding of how these organisms will react to the rise in global sea temperatures. Ashlynn is excited to use this grant to travel to French Polynesia, where she will collaborate at the CRIOBE lab to conduct her research.
