Graduate Scholarship in Marine Conservation, sponsored by WDHOF Member Cecilie Benjamin, in memory of her husband Max

Brianna Cahill

Brianna is a Master’s student at Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, in the Fisheries Ecology and Conservation Lab. She is an AAUS Scientific Diver and PADI Rescue Diver, with hopes of completing her PADI Divemaster in the near future. The focus of her thesis aims to characterize the diet of whitespotted eagle rays (Aetobatus narinari) in Florida coastal waters using techniques like DNA barcoding and stable isotope analysis. Following graduate school, Brianna hopes to continue studying elasmobranchs in coastal ecosystems, to create a more cohesive view on benthic-pelagic coupling.
