James is a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia. As an Eagle Scout of Boy Scout Troop 55B and an Able rank scout from Sea Scouts Ship 1942, he has a passion for outdoor adventure and environmental stewardship. He has earned his Open Water, Advanced, and Rescue scuba certifications, and he has participated in four high adventures at BSA Sea Base (Florida & Bahamas). In the summer of 2018, he cycled across America from Seattle to Washington DC for 66 days and 4000 miles, receiving Congressional recognition for promoting healthy living and outdoor adventure. He has volunteered more than 1,000 hours for his local community since 2014, earning five “President’s Volunteer Service Award” gold medals and the “2020 Billy Michal Student Leadership Award.” James plans to get Divemaster and Instructor training to also help more youth to enjoy scuba diving.
