Miriam Pierotti

Miriam is a passionate diver and a Ph.D. candidate in Marine Biology at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Her research project aims to expand the general understanding of black coral biology and ecology by conducting monitoring surveys and population genetic studies in remote areas of the South Island of New Zealand. The goal of her research is to investigate how endemic black coral populations respond to environmental impacts to support future management, protection, and conservation efforts of these important species. Miriam is dedicated to preserving marine biodiversity and making scientific initiatives accessible to the general public.
