Shari is currently a second-year graduate student in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology-Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (MIT-WHOI) Joint Program in Geology and Geophysics.Taking after her father, who was a dive instructor, Shari received a Diving Technologies and Methods minor from Texas A&M University at Galveston. After taking a summer field course in the Yucatan Peninsula, Shari became fascinated with underwater caves, and is currently studying the benthic ecology of these complex systems. She plans to use her Advanced Training Grant to get her full cave certification, allowing her to continue carrying out research in caves for her thesis.
