Sofia holds a Ph.D. degree and works as a marine biologist at M.G. Kholodny Institute of Botany, NAS of Ukraine. She studies the taxonomy of marine brown algae and develops strategies for marine habitats conservation in the Black Sea. Besides working in academia, Sofia works for the environmental NGO Ecoation with the issue of Climate Change policy, she advocates for Blue Growth as the Black Sea Young Ambassador, and she is a volunteer for NGO “Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group” as an expert on marine habitats. Learning to scuba dive will advance her research and will help to raise awareness about the Black Sea’s uniqueness using underwater photography.
